Chelsea v Brighton and Hove Albion Match Preview & Trends
Can Tuchel top off a perfect week with a victory?
Thomas Tuchel has led Chelsea into the Champions League semi-finals and the F.A Cup Final with success in the Blues last games, will it be a third triumph in a week as Chelsea host Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The Seagulls have averaged 1.27 points away from home this season and tend to score more on their travels than they do at the Amex Stadium having netted in 73% of their away matches. With Danny Welbeck showing his experience since signing, he has become an increasingly influential figure in Grahame Potter’s side.
With a goal-scorer like Neil Maupay and the creativity of Belgian international Trossard, Brighton certainly have the talent to score more than they have been. Captain Lewis Dunk has chipped in with a few goals from centre back but the onus must be on the forward line to get the goals to keep Albion in the league.
After a big win over Manchester City at Wembley, Tuchel can once again rotate his super-star squad. Whoever he picks to do the job will know they have to perform now to stake a claim for the big finals and semi-finals Chelsea have lined up for themselves. They will not be taking Brighton lightly however and will know that finishing in the top 4 is still high on the agenda despite the successful cup runs they are on.
80% of Chelsea’s Premier League home games this season finished with an even total number of goals and they have won the 3 last home games vs Brighton by two or more goals. The Blues have scored the first goal of the game in the last 7 games against Brighton.
Brighton have scored in 73% of their away matches
Chelsea have picked up an average of 1.73 Points Per Game in their 15 matches played at home
Brighton & Hove’s average Points Per Game in their 15 away games is 1.27.
