Value Premier League Fantasy Football Picks for 2021/22: Every position covered

Fpl header
With the Premier League starting shortly my attention turns to setting up my Fantasy Football team for the new (2021/2022) season, but where are the value players? Here is y best guide to players to select at the start of this season. With players from the Euro’s returning late for pre-season, and some not returning at all, I’m looking for players who should be playing from the start. These are lower-value players rather than big names.

Budget Premier Leauge Fantasy Players

Prices are from the Telegraph league.

Goal Keeper – Robert Sanchez £2.9m

Brighton keeper Snaches made the no 1 spot his own last season and kept 10 clean sheets in the process. He has been the no 1 so far in pre-season. At £2.9 million he is one of the cheapest goalkeepers in the game. Defensive-minded Brighton should keep a number of clean sheets and Sanchez looks an absolute bargain. Last season points: 91 Opening fixtures: Burnley (A), Watford (H), Everton (H), Brentford (A).

Robert Sanchez - A bargain goalkeeper in FPL

Best Value Defender – Luke Ayling £3.3m

Leeds Ayling has stayed under the radar this season as there are so many good players to pick from in the right-back position. At £3.3 million he is the most expensive Leeds defender but he is great value compared to other players at the same value. There is an argument to have Tyrone Mings in here too who is also £3.3 million and got 129 points last season. He may be slower to get started though after Euro 2020. Last season points: 101 Opening fixtures: Manchester United (A), Everton (H), Burnley (A), Liverpool (H).

Midfielder – Mason Greenwood

In fantasy football terms a player who is mainly a forward but classed as a midfielder always offers some good value. New signing Jadon Sancho falls into this category too but at £1.6 million cheaper Greenwood is arguably the better buy. Rashford is out for 12 weeks so I would expect to see United have a front 3 of Sancho – Cavani – Greenwood with Martial, James, and Amad deputising. Greenwood missed the Euros with injury but has been back for a full pre-season. He should be fit, sharp, and ready to go on the opening day. Depending on how Cavani returns from Copa America duties he could start the season upfront. His 112 points last season was a reasonable return after a poor first half of the season. He should get a lot more than that this season. Last season points: 112 Opening fixtures: Leeds United (H), Southampton (A), Wolves (A), Newcastle (H)

Mason Greenwood - FPL pick 20-21

Bargain pick midfielder – Billy Gilmour £2.5m

On loan from Chelsea Gilmour will get some game time and at £2.5 million he cannot be ignored. He played well in the Euro’s and it is clear that he has a level of ability to his play. The cheapest midfielders in FPL are £2.2m but I think you won’t find a better bargain basement pick than Gilmour – perfect if you want to stack your team with superstars. The only downside is the opening fixtures for Norwich! Last season points: 16 Opening fixtures: Liverpool (H), Manchester City (A), Leicester City (H), Arsenal (A).

Billy Gilmour playing for Norwich this season - is there a better bargain buy?

Forward – Kelechi Iheanacho £4.7m

Iheanacho ended the season well scoring freely as he seemed to finally reach the levels his potential showed. With Jamie Vardy ageing this is the perfect season for Ineanacho to show he’s the player to lead the line for Leicester. At £4.7 million he is £2.1 million less than Vardy which is a bargain for a forward on FPL. He’s been saying how well pre-season has been going and he seems ready to fire. Leicester get their season tarted with the Charity Sheild against Manchester City on the 7th of August. We have to give a mention to Diego Jota at the same price who has returned to fitness and is the same price as Ineanacho. He’s been impressing the coaches in training and could be another value pick for the season. Last season points: 136 Opening fixtures: Wolves (H), West Ham (A), Norwich (A), Manchester City (H).
