Denmark v Finland Match Preview & Trends

Finland Seeking An Upset On European Debut

Winners of the 1992 European Championships Denmark, host first-time qualifiers Finland in Copenhagen for the opening fixture for both sides. Having not qualified for Euro 2016 last time out, this talented Danish side will feel like there is ground to make up. With European stars like Eriksen, Kjaer, and Dolberg alongside the experience of Premier League winner Kasper Schmeichel in goal and the dangerous Youssef Poulsen upfront, The Danes will be a match for anyone this summer.

Having qualified behind Italy, Finland will not fear anyone and although they are not a prolific side, striker Teemu Pukki has proven that he can score regularly at this level. The Norwich City forward netted 10 goals in qualifying and will be a threat again in this tournament. Finland were ranked 20th in terms of possession percentage, and 18th for corners during the qualifying campaign and have a blend of youth and experience in their squad.

Denmark had better minutes per goal records than both holders Portugal and the ever-improving Netherlands side in qualification. They are efficient in possession and take their chances when they arise, even if they are not frequent scorers. Having qualified ahead of respected opposition in The Republic Of Ireland and Switzerland, The Danes will fancy their chances of ruffling a few feathers at this tournament.
